Caregiver Questions, Answered

Where do I start if I am new to caregiving in Nebraska?

Two free starting points cover most of Nebraska: dial 211 (or text your ZIP code to 898211) to reach Nebraska 211 for a referral to nearby services, and contact your local Area Agency on Aging — Aging Partners in Lincoln or ENOA in Omaha — for an assessment of what help is available to you and your loved one.

What financial help is available for Nebraska caregivers?

The 2025 Nebraska Caregiver Tax Credit can reimburse 50% of eligible caregiving expenses — up to $2,000, or up to $3,000 when caring for a veteran or someone with dementia — for households under the income limits. The Nebraska Lifespan Respite Network can also help offset the cost of respite care. See the tax credit and respite sections above for details and links.

Is respite care available, and how do I arrange it?

Yes. Respite care gives caregivers a temporary break. The Nebraska Lifespan Respite Network and the Nebraska Family Caregiver Support Program both help arrange and, in many cases, help pay for respite. Start with the contacts in the Caregiver Support & Respite section above.
